Christian Religious Practitioner Profile

We will begin your introduction to your syllabus by introducing you to the profile of the Christian Religious Professional. These are the tasks you should be able to do upon completion of your qualification. This is also the basis of our assessment of you and will finally inform your external final exam.

Occupational Task Details:

Task 1                                                              

Lead the inter-generational faith community in spiritual formation that nurtures their relationship with God

Unique Product or Service: A faith community made up of all generations with a mature relationship with God

Responsibilities under Task 1

  • Research community dynamics
  • Prepare sermons that will address the spiritual needs of the inter-generational faith community
  • Conduct worship services within the inter-generational faith community
  • Administer the sacraments required within the inter-generational faith community
  • Interact with groups and individuals in order to facilitate spiritual growth
  • Form and develop the spirituality of the inter-generational faith community

Task 2

Develop and nurture fellowship and mutual care within the inter-generational faith community

Unique Product or Service: Harmonious caring faith community 

Responsibilities under Task 2

  • Develop harmonious and mutually supportive relationships among members of an inter-generational faith community
  • Support and develop various fellowship groups within the inter-generational faith community
  • Lead the inter-generational faith community to show loving care in times of need or crisis

Task 3

Facilitate the holistic well-being of people within the inter-generational faith community by developing proactive and reactive (coping) life skills and a Christian value system

Responsibilities under Task 3

  • Develop proactive and reactive (coping) life skills in the inter-generational faith community through preaching
  • Equip inter-generational faith community through teaching, counselling, and mentoring with proactive life skills to deal with everyday life situations
  • Equip the inter-generational faith community through teaching, counselling and mentoring with coping skills to deal with life problems
  • Train/form the inter-generational faith community to live and promote Christian values and virtues
  • Relate values to daily behaviour and build processes to reinforce a value-based community
  • Role model the application of a Christian value system

Task 4

Provide visional leadership that leads to obedience to its vocation, as well as well-being and sustainability of the inter-generational faith community

Responsibilities under Task 4

  • Lead an inter-generational faith community through spiritual leadership
  • Build the spiritual leadership capacity of the inter-generational faith community
  • Execute the operational management of organizational activities
  • Design, implement, monitor, and maintain administrative systems for the faith community
  • Design and manage projects to implement and measure programmes, projects and initiatives

Task 5

Develop a missional practice that shares the good news of Jesus Christ and serves the holistic well-being of the entire community

Responsibilities under Task 5

  • Mobilize the inter-generational faith community to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the world
  • Design and implement outreach programmes to deal with socio-economic needs in the wider community
  • Lead and participate in interventions to deal with emergency situations in the community
  • Understand ways of participating in community development initiatives
