1. What I learned from Interview and Video by Siang Yang Tan about the Holy Spirit is so inspired. As a Christian therapist the work of the Holy Spirit is so important in the realm of professional integration. The Holy Spirit as the third person of the Holy Trinity, Counsellor, Comforter, Helper and Advocate (John 14:16-17), the spirit of power and truth. We are filled with the Spirit that is in control to empower us to do same works of Jesus, as followers. (John14:12) As we are walking with the Spirit, we are given spiritual gifts that enable us to be fruitful in counselling. Spiritual gifts are most salient for counselling include encouragement, discerning of spirits, healing, knowledge and wisdom. The spirit guides into all truth and teach psychological truth and will never contradict the truth of God’s word. The spirit’s fruit which, is Love is powerful in Christian counselling. The work can produce renewal, revival and deep healing of broken lives.
2. My views on the Interview and Video are that Holy Spirit can empower Christian therapist to discern the root of the client’s problem, can provide spiritual direction as a therapist and client participate by using Christian practices such as prayer or engaging scripture. At any time during, counselling session the spirit can touch a client and bring powerful experiences of grace and healing. Christian therapist can the Holy Spirit assist to discern the presence of the demonic and know when prayer of deliverance should be part of the therapy or referral to a pastor or a prayer ministry team. The Spirit does spiritual transformation of both client and therapist, into greater Christ likeness as they participate in the spiritual disciplines with the spirit ‘s help. The presence and power of the spirit is leading to growth and healing. When you are going to be dealing with client lift the person to God and you also lift yourself, by doing that you open to the Holy Spirit.
3. Comment on one other learner’s discussion is of Jade Julius, I ‘m fully agree about the question she asked from Siang Yang Tan of the struggles he sees within churches and responded that are same that are happening in society like, depression, stress, parenting and marital problems and, is not to be deal in church, they should have a good referral system of good Christian counsellors, psychiatrists and professionals.
