What needs can be met by you and your local church if we become intentional about showing
    God’s goodness in our communities?

Use an example of a successful outreach that touched the lives of those in the community
through the efforts of believers. This example can be local or another outreach you have
    heard of elsewhere

We recently had the privilege of being a part of the City Wide Outreach, No More Shadows Campaign that was hosted by Reaching a Generation and Celebration Church. The outreach was aimed specifically at anti-bullying and anti-suicide in schools in the Mogalakwena and Mookgophong area.

It truly was amazing. Over 71 000 children were reached with a message of hope in Jesus Christ and many teachers and police officers were trained in the process. It was also amazing to see volunteers from various churches and organisations trained in the school program, but also in children’s and youth ministry training in general as we believed that this campaign would yield a harvest of souls that would need discipling thereafter.

The campaign was based on research done in the area, and very specifically targeted the most pressing needs in schools in our area. Training and programs were offered free of charge as a gift. It was truly inspiring to hear so testimonies of the impact of this campaign on the lives of young people and teachers alike.

Need that can be met by an intentional church are: Spiritual needs and people need hope, faith in the broken world. Discipleship and mentorship for people seeking growth.
Emotional and mental needs: people needs healing from trauma, depression, anxiety, rejection, bullying and abuse. Support for single parents is important.
At Celebration church we had a campaign called “No more shadow” This initiative was about bullying in local schools. We interacted with kids through drama, skits, testimonies and short teachings about values and identity in Jesus Christ.
Many learners were victims of bullying but they found their voice to speak up and be heard and some bullies even stopped. Even teachers were reached in their level and were trained to handle suicide in the schools.

People need someone who can stand at the gap for justice in the broken and harassed communities and church should be voice to the voiceless.

The needs that can be met by me and my local church are mentoring the young people to bring guidance and light to their future. We can the community by bringing hope and spreading faith. The church can also meet physical needs like donating food.

At Celebration we had an outreach “No more Shadows. This outreach was about Anti-bullying and anti-suicide, it touched a lot of young people in schools and helped them to see life in a different way. A lot of these young people where victims of bullying and where scared to speak out but during the outreach some came out and spoke about it. Even those that had suicidal thoughts got help.
We also had teachers training, where teachers where being taught how to handle children who are victims of bullying and suicide.

I believe many needs can be met by me and my local church if we intentionally show God’s goodness in our communities. Many people around us need support, encouragement, and hope. As believers, we can demonstrate God’s love by helping those who are struggling financially, visiting the sick, supporting young people who need guidance, and showing kindness to those who feel forgotten. Even small actions like listening to someone, praying for them, or helping with basic needs can reflect God’s goodness and make a positive difference in people’s lives.

An example of a successful outreach that touched the lives of people in the community is a church program that provided food and clothing to vulnerable families. The church members worked together to collect donations and distribute them to people who were struggling. During the outreach, volunteers also spent time talking with the families, praying with them, and encouraging them. This not only helped meet their physical needs but also reminded them that they were cared for and valued.

This type of outreach is important because it demonstrates the love of Christ in practical ways. When the church reaches out beyond its walls and serves the community, people are able to see God’s goodness through our actions. It also creates opportunities to build relationships and share the message of hope found in the Gospel. By being intentional about serving others, the church can become a source of light, support, and transformation in the community.
