Christianity and Islam share similar themes – such as having One God, having a holy book, and prophets. Yet, Christianity and Islam differ in their doctrines, such as doctrines of the trinity, the Holy Spirit, who Christ is and the role of prophets.

Here is a testimony of a Muslim to Christian convert, to guide your thinking on the differences between the Muslim and Christian traditions and their historical verifications/lack of verification. LINK

After watching the videos and content provided, discuss a teaching you have learned about Islam and how it contrasts (differs) with Christian belief. Make sure to discuss how Christianity is a more coherent belief system than Islam. Make sure your response is complete and coherent with a minimum of 150 words.

One important teaching I learned about Islam is the way it views Jesus. In the Qur’an, Jesus (Isa) is highly honoured as a prophet, born of the virgin Mary, and even called “Word from God” and “Spirit from God.” Muslims believe that Jesus performed miracles and will return before the Day of Judgment. However, Islam denies his crucifixion and resurrection, presenting him only as a prophet and not the Son of God.

This stands in strong contrast with Christianity, which teaches that Jesus is the eternal Son of God, the second Person of the Trinity, and the Saviour of the world. His death on the cross and resurrection are central, since they secure forgiveness of sins and eternal life for believers.

Christianity is more coherent because its message is historically verifiable and consistent. The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus are attested by eyewitnesses and early writings. Unlike Islam, which emerged centuries later and often contradicts earlier Scripture, Christianity’s doctrine of Christ provides both a logical and historically grounded foundation for faith.

Christianity is a more coherent due to its special attention on grace and redemption.
Christianity’s doctrine on grace, focuses on God’s love and redemption through faith in Jesus Christ and this provide a clear ideas that are logically connected and coherent for understanding salvation.

The Muslim believe that the messiah Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah, and they did not kill him nor did they crucify him. The central theme in Christianity on the other hand, is that Jesus indeed did die through crucifixion in the four Gospel Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, they are detailed that Jesus died on a cross. The Muslim believed that Jesus is not referred as the son of God because it is believed that God has no children. whereas in Christianity Jesus is the only God’s son in the spiritual sense not in a physical sense. God took on the form of a burning bush when revealing himself to Moses. In Christianity also share a gospel that is intend to be spread to the entire world and the one Jesus foretells is the Holy Spirit, who is believed to also be God, not the Prophet Muhammad.
