ParticipantA Christ-like presence in the community involves modeling Jesus’ teachings through actions, words, and attitudes, creating a loving and supportive environment where everyone feels welcomed and valued. This can be achieved by actively engaging in acts of service, showing compassion, and demonstrating the transformative power of faith in daily interactions.
Walking the Talk:
A Christ-like presence isn’t just about saying the right things; it’s about embodying the message of love and compassion in daily life. This can involve volunteering time, offering a helping hand to a neighbor, or simply listening with empathy to someone’s struggles.
Building Bridges:
Jesus was a bridge-builder, connecting with people from all walks of life. A Christ-like presence in the community means seeking out those who may feel marginalized or different, and extending a welcoming hand. It’s about creating an environment where everyone feels safe to be their authentic selves.
Serving with Humility:
Jesus taught the importance of humility and service. A Christ-like presence in the community means putting others’ needs before our own, and serving with a spirit of humility and selfless love.
Sharing the Good News:
A core aspect of a Christ-like presence is sharing the good news of Jesus with others. This can be done through personal testimonies, sharing scripture, or simply living a life that radiates the joy and hope found in faith.
Praying for Peace and Unity:
Jesus taught the importance of prayer and seeking God’s will. A Christ-like presence in the community can involve praying for the needs of the community, for peace and unity, and for the spread of God’s love.April 3, 2025 at 11:55 pm #94171Collins Omondi
ParticipantThe Missio Dei (Mission of God) reflects His love, justice, and desire for reconciliation, demonstrating that mission is not just an activity of the church but a core aspect of who God is. Missio Dei is a Latin Christian theological term that can be translated as the “mission of God”, or the “sending of God”. In the beginning, there was a wonderful relationship between God and man, but the fall into sin damaged this relationship and the relationship was scarred. Adam and Eve turned their backs on God (rejected Him) by disobeying Him and following the advice of Satan. It is God (the one rejected) that took the initiative to reconcile man with Himself. In 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 It is a concept which has become increasingly important in missiology and in understanding the mission of the church since the second half of the 20th century.

Participant1. Pastoral counselors help children with troubles by creating a supportive environment that is sensitive to meet the needs of children without prejudice. Promote cognitive, emotional and social development in a healthy and safe environment, to offer a private, secure environment where to discuss issues, and they integrate spiritual practices and tools
2. Pastoral care and storytelling explains the use of Bible storytelling in counselling: …telling stories to children is a method of sharing with them new and different perspectives on life, a goal of pastoral care of children. Telling biblical stories accomplishes this within the particular framework of our Judeo-Christian heritage. Through these stories, we pass on our faith by giving children the opportunity (1) to use our heritage as the context for processing their response to a crisis, and by helping them (2) to make religious interpretations and gain spiritual insights from this same tradition.

Participant1. What I Learned from Siang Yang Tan
I learned that the Holy Spirit plays a key role in Christian counselling. According to Siang Yang Tan, the Holy Spirit provides wisdom, comfort, and healing to both the counsellor and the client. The Spirit helps reveal deeper truths about a person’s problems and brings real change in their life.2. My Views on the Interview and Video
I found the interview and video very helpful. Tan’s ideas about relying on the Holy Spirit offer a unique way to connect faith with counselling. His focus on prayer and listening to the Spirit reminded me that counselling should include spiritual care, not just emotional support.September 1, 2024 at 9:52 pm #73322Collins Omondi
